據了解，在2001年就決定共度餘生的布萊恩與凡妮莎，兩人不但早在高中時期就相識，彼此更是一見鐘情墜入愛河，而結婚那年Kobe才22歲，而Vanessa更是年僅18歲。

雖然很多人都認為太早結婚，通常不是閃離就是容易因為生活上的各種嫌隙而火速的感情生變漸行漸遠，而布萊恩與凡妮莎雖然一路上歷經了些許坡折，但早已將彼此視為靈魂伴侶的兩人不但一走就是20年，甚至更因為育有4名女兒過著幸福快樂的生活，因此可說是許多人眼中的模範家庭！
而至於為何事發時凡妮莎沒有與布萊恩處在同一班飛機上呢？與布萊恩一家熟識的友人就透露，其實早在2001年布萊恩與凡妮莎結婚之時，就曾立下「永不乘坐同一班飛機」的約定，避免夫妻倆同時遇到意外而留下無人照顧的子女！

如今原本幸福美滿的一家遭逢巨變後，現年37歲的凡妮莎雖然相當難過，但為了實踐兩人當初的約定，也必須咬緊牙關負起照顧家中3個女兒的責任。
而雖然事發當下，凡妮莎一度情緒崩潰甚至還將自己的IG設成私人帳號不公開，不過經過幾天的沈澱後，如今她也在IG上發表一篇貼文感謝各界對於他們家的關心，也提到曼巴體育基金會將會撥出一筆資金，協助在這場意外裡受到影響的其餘家庭， 也希望外界能響應捐款。此外，她也將大頭照換成老公Kobe與二女兒的甜蜜合照，讓許多粉絲看了既心疼又不捨...
相信誰都不願意發生這種事情，如今憾事不幸發生，希望身為Kobe愛妻的凡妮莎能勇敢走出失去家人的悲痛！
My girls and I want to thank the millions of people who’ve shown support and love during this horrific time. Thank you for all the prayers. We definitely need them. We are completely devastated by the sudden loss of my adoring husband, Kobe — the amazing father of our children; and my beautiful, sweet Gianna — a loving, thoughtful, and wonderful daughter, and amazing sister to Natalia, Bianka, and Capri. We are also devastated for the families who lost their loved ones on Sunday, and we share in their grief intimately. There aren’t enough words to describe our pain right now.
